Significant achievements
Designed
and implemented one of the first curriculum modularization programs at
an American university. Established a technology-enhanced,
individualized nursing program at a Canadian technical college that
produced substantial achievement gains for students. Managed a USAID-funded
project to develop radio lessons to teach English to rural Kenyan
students, demonstrating performance improvements equivalent to
first-world computer-assisted learning at an average annual cost per
pupil of one dollar. Assisted in the methodology’s replication to
serve more than 500,000 learners in South Africa and Lesotho. Managed
three basic education reform projects in Southern Africa, supporting
improvements in curriculum and materials development, continuous
assessment, teacher training, and management information systems.
Designed an innovative online learning system for South African
secondary students. Carried out several evaluations and descriptive
studies of basic and higher education reform in Southern Africa.
