In August 1999 Peter Knight began work as a consultant to Science Applications International Corporation's Strategic Assessment Center for the Advanced Technology Integration Demonstration Project (ATID)  for "Technology Transfer, Information Management, and Integration of the Reserve Component into the Interagency Effort to Combat Domestic Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Terrorism.” This involved visiting two universities and a National Guard installation as part of a team assessing their capacity to conduct distance learning for "first responders" (police, firefighters, National Guard units, etc.) to attacks by terrorists using chemical, biological, and radiological weapons. Peter Knight also is a member of the Senior Review Group which meets quarterly to oversee execution of this two-year project.
