World Bank Brazil Country Assistance Evaluation 2002

Peter Knight and William Tyler participated in the 11 person evaluation team lead by Roberto Rocha of the World Bank's Operations Evaluation Department. The main mission for the Brazil Country Assistance Evaluation (CAE) was conducted during March 2002, and a final report was discussed with the Government of Brazil in December 2002, after a process involving discussions within the World Bank Group and with the Government of Brazil. The report covers all aspects of the World Bank Group's involvement with Brazil since 1990.

Peter Knight together with Eustáquio Reis of the Brazilian Ministry of Planning, Budget and Management's Institute for Socio-Economic Research (IPEA) provided overall advice and support to task manager and OED management in all stages of the CAE. William Tyler audited of a cluster of six projects dealing with public sector reforms in the 1990s, analyzed a program loan supporting fiscal reforms and related economic and sector work, and prepared a background paper assessing the World Bank Group's contribution to the reform of the Brazilian public sector and the long-run stability of the public finances.
