Forum on Education in the Information Age Cartagena, Colombia, 9-11 July 1997
Peter Knight assisted the Inter-American Development Bank
in the preparation and delivery of this Forum, organized jointly with the
Global Information Infrastructure Commission and hosted by the
Universidad de los Andes. The Forum brought together Ministers of Education from Latin America and the Caribbean, their key advisors, international experts, and representatives of education and training institutions, private and public providers of telematics services in support of education and training, and NGOs active in education and training. It is part of the Informatics 2000 Initiative of the Inter-American Development Bank.
Peter Knight prepared a paper, The Half-Life of Knowledge and Structural Reform of the Education Sector for the Global Knowledge-Based Economy, for the Forum, a version of which was published by the Inter-American Development Bank in 1998.
Following the Forum, Universidad de los Andes established a website containing papers presented at the Forum and information on post Forum activities including Workgroups and Discussion Groups preparing input for a major Informatics 2000 meeting held September 8-9 at the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington.
