Russian Training Videos on Hyperinflation and Stabilization

This project took advantage of interviews conducted with leading economists by the Russian production company Persona for its two-part series, Your Money or Your Life. Interviews available include Michael Bruno, Lezcek Balcerowicz, Yegor Guidar, Persio Arida, Jeffrey Sachs, John Williamson, Marcelo Selowsky, Daniel Kaufman, Vasily Rogovoi, Victor Pinzenkin, Anders Aslund, and Roberto Macedo.

Two scripts were written by Russian economist Mikhail Dimitriev (a former member of the Supreme Soviet of the Russian Federation and Deputy Director, Institute of Economic Analysis, Moscow), now with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in collaboration with the Russian production company Message Agency and EDI Moscow Office staff member, Ruslan Yemtsov. 

Production of two Russian language videos, entitled Lessons of Inflation (Part I: Misconceptions and Mistakes; Part II Victory over Inflation) was completed in December, 1995. The videos were used by EDI and its partner training institutions, and continue to be used by EDI's successor organization, the World Bank Institute (WBI). Copies in both broadcast quality (Betacam SP) and VHS are available from the World Bank's Film and Video Unit (do a search on Film Library).
